The Jordan Downs Community Center is the centerpiece of our Master Plan for the transformation of this distressed public housing project. The 50,000 sq. ft. facility is shown here at an early stage of conceptual design. It includes a community gym, classrooms, administrative facilities and outdoor spaces for early learning and college preparation, plus a broad range of social services and management functions.

The building consists of shaded outdoor porches and circulation galleries integrated with the main public park and centrally located in the neighborhood. This bright, sunny indoor/outdoor building celebrates the heritage of Los Angeles modernism as a symbol of transformation for the citizens of Jordan Downs and Watts.
