Maceo May supportive housing is a community of 105 apartments, common spaces, and courtyards conceived to address the special needs of formerly homeless veterans. The project sponsors are two excellent non-profit housing providers, Swords to Plowshares who specialize in veterans housing, and Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC).
At the behest of the San Francisco Mayors Office of Housing, the project makes use of the Factory OS system of volumetric modular pre-fabrication. Much was learned about the potential benefits and inherent limitations of this method of building.
