ATWATER RESIDENCE
TELLURIDE, COLORADO
This 5,700 sq. ft. residence in Telluride is used as a ski house and family retreat. The lowest level within a stone plinth contains five bedrooms, five baths and a sauna. The main level consists of a large living/dining room, kitchen and game room with a south facing terrace. The master bedroom suite is on the top level. The house is sited on a knoll to capture panoramic views. The siting creates a pattern of access which includes a tower containing a spiral stair and a bridge from the tower to the house. The architecture is inspired by indigenous mines and ranch buildings nearby. Exterior materials are stone, wood and steel.
